The University of Embu is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Art and Design to join its faculty. This senior academic role involves delivering high-quality education, conducting advanced research, and providing mentorship and supervision to postgraduate students. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the academic excellence of the institution through teaching, mentoring, and active research engagement.
Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver lectures and facilitate learning for students in the Art and Design department.
Supervise Master's students through to the successful completion of their research and degrees.
Conduct ongoing research and publish findings in refereed scholarly journals to maintain a high level of academic output.
Secure research grants to support academic projects and institutional research goals.
Contribute to the university community through leadership roles and participation in various university activities.
Present original research and contribute to learned conferences, seminars, and academic workshops.
Participate in the development and review of curriculum within the department.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: PhD or Fellowship in Art and Design or a closely related field.
Teaching Experience: Have at least five (5) years of university teaching experience, three (3) of which as a full-time Lecturer.
Publications: Have at least 32 publication points, 24 of which are from articles in refereed scholarly journals since being appointed Lecturer.
Supervision: Have successfully supervised to completion at least four (4) Masters students since being appointed Lecturer.
Research Grants: Show evidence of successfully securing at least one (1) research grant since being appointed Lecturer.
Academic Engagement: Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops.
Institutional Service: Show evidence of active participation/leadership in university activities and continued research.
