Job Description
The Affordable Housing Board is seeking a Senior Driver to support its transport and logistics operations. This role involves the safe operation of vehicles, maintenance oversight, and providing guidance to other drivers. The position is essential for ensuring the efficiency and safety of the Board's transport services.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting the development of transport guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Driving authorized vehicles in accordance with transport policies and guidelines.
Performing routine checks on the vehicle's cooling, oil, electrical, and brake systems, as well as tyre pressure.
Planning transportation routes based on road and traffic conditions.
Adhering to Traffic Laws and government regulations regarding the management of government vehicles.
Maintaining vehicle cleanliness through regular washing and cleaning.
Scheduling vehicle servicing and inspections in coordination with relevant authorities.
Detecting and reporting any malfunctions in the vehicle system immediately.
Ensuring all work tickets are duly authorized.
Safeguarding the security and safety of the vehicle, passengers, and any goods being transported.
Reporting any incidents to the police and the officer in charge of transport immediately.
Coaching and mentoring other drivers within the organization.
Requirements & Qualifications
A cumulative service period of nine (9) years' work experience, with at least three (3) years at the grade of Driver I or a comparable position.
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of D (Plain) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
A valid driving license free from any current endorsements, valid for the required classes of vehicles.
Must have passed the Suitability Test for Drivers Grade I.
First-Aid Certificate Course (at least one week duration) from St. John Ambulance, KIHBT, or an equivalent recognized body.
Defensive driving certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or a recognized institution.
Customer Service Training Certificate from KIHBT or an equivalent recognized institution.
A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Demonstrated merit and ability in work performance and results.
