Senior Curriculum Development Officer, Sports and Recreation

The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) was established by the Government of Kenya on the 14th of January 2013 under an Act of Parliament (Act No.4 of 2013) to provide research-based curricula and curriculum support materials responsive to the needs of the society.

This role, Senior Curriculum Development Officer, Sports and Recreation, is pivotal in leading the development, review, and continuous improvement of high-quality curricula and supporting materials specifically for Sports and Recreation programs, informed by rigorous research and professional input.

Duties and Responsibilities (Job Specifications)

The successful candidate shall be responsible for:

1. Developing relevant, high-quality curricula and curriculum support materials for Sports and Recreation.
2. Participating in curriculum orientation, dissemination, and capacity-building activities for Sports and Recreation.
3. Providing technical and professional input to the activities of Sports and Recreation subject and course panels.
4. Conducting basic, applied, and action research to inform the development, review, and continuous improvement of Sports and Recreation curricula and curriculum support materials.
5. Managing curriculum and research data, and effectively communicating research findings to support effective implementation of Sports and Recreation programmes and inform policy and practice.

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must meet the following essential criteria:

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Experience: Possess four (4) years of relevant experience.
• Technical Skills: Be computer literate.
• Statutory Compliance: Fulfil the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution (Leadership and Integrity).
