BURN is seeking a Senior Carbon Technical Manager to take ownership of the health of BURN's carbon portfolio, specifically focusing on Article 6.2, Electric, and metered projects. The role ensures that issuance volumes are delivered on time, on scope, and on budget while maintaining the highest integrity standards.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Management
Assign projects to technical teams and set reporting targets.
Ensure compliance with all methodological and industry-approved integrity benchmarks.
Lead VVB (Validation and Verification Body) contract management.
Manage all carbon technical documentation and provide technical responses to new methodologies, ratings agencies, and investors.
Forecast technical threats and opportunities based on emergent trends in the ICVCM.
Oversee capacity building and training programs.
Provide quarterly reports to the Senior Management Team (SMT).
Article 6.2 Bilateral Programme Leadership
Lead the full technical management of Article 6.2 bilateral programs (e.g., KLIK Ghana EIC project).
Act as the primary technical liaison with FOEN (Switzerland), Ghana Carbon Market Office (CMO), and Gold Standard.
Manage the Corresponding Adjustment (CA) process and track Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs).
Monitor UNFCCC COP Article 6.2 guidance and translate requirements into project procedures.
Prepare and submit authorization requests and monitoring reports.
EIC and Metered Cookstove Technical Management
Interpret and apply EIC-specific methodology requirements.
Lead the design and continuous improvement of IoT-based and metered MRV systems.
Ensure survey instruments (KOBO) are compliant and localized.
Lead quarterly monitoring survey cycles, including statistical outlier analysis and CDM 95/5 reliability assessments.
Manage annual updates for electricity emission factors and transmission losses.
Verification and Registry Operations
Prepare verification packages for VVBs, including evidence dossiers and audit trails.
Act as the primary contact during VVB audits, managing FARs and CARs to closure.
Manage registry accounts, including fee payments and issuance bookings.
Data Quality and Coordination
Enforce SOPs and QA/QC plans for MRV processes.
Collaborate with Data & Analytics teams on database integrity and GPS records.
Coordinate with Customer Experience teams on e-waste compliance and grievance mechanisms.
Requirements
Education: Minimum of a BA/BSc/HND degree.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in voluntary or compliance carbon markets.
Technical Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in MRV, monitoring report preparation, and VVB verification management.
Article 6.2 Knowledge: Direct experience with the Paris Agreement Article 6.2 frameworks and ITMO processes.
Standards: Strong knowledge of Gold Standard (GS4GG) methodology for electric/metered cookstoves.
Project Track Record: End-to-end ownership of at least 3 certified projects and 1 Programme of Activities (PoA) in the last 36 months.
Audit Management: Experience managing at least 2 VVB audit firms through full cycles.
