Job Description
Role Overview
The role holder reports to the Head of Section, Payment Services Authorization and Approvals. The primary purpose of this position is to assist the team in the review and analysis of applications by Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) to ensure full compliance with the VASPs Act and associated Regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Technical and Operational Responsibilities
Application Review: Review VASP applications in accordance with the VASP Act and Regulations and provide recommendations to the Section Head.
Policy Intervention: Recommend policy interventions aimed at encouraging financial innovations within the sector.
Documentation Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of applications and required licensing documents for new VASPs.
Approval Processing: Process applications for the approval of new products and company names for emerging VASPs.
Product Oversight: Review and recommend approval for any new VASP products or services introduced by existing licensed providers.
Stakeholder Communication: Correspond with applicants regarding licensing requirements and other related regulatory queries.
Regulatory Guidance: Organize and document meetings with prospective VASPs to provide necessary regulatory guidance.
Administrative Support: Assist in maintaining and updating logs for new product applicants.
Other Responsibilities
Coordinate knowledge exchange programmes.
Participate in stakeholder forums focused on payment systems and innovations.
Execute any other roles and responsibilities as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Law, Statistics, Computer Science, or Business.
Certification: Professional qualifications and active memberships in relevant bodies are considered an added advantage.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience in Payments & Banking Operations, Financial Services, Economics, Accounting, or similar operational roles.
