Job Description
About the Role
The Senior Officer, Banking Services provides efficient and effective, high-quality services, in line with laid down procedures and guidelines to achieve the Bank’s mandate and strategic objectives. This involves performing various Banking and Financial Markets functions at the Eldoret Branch, including Accounts Management, Clearing Operations, and Financial Markets client relations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Technical and Operational Responsibilities
Provide efficient and effective customer care and maintain order in the Banking Hall.
Perform teller functions at the Head Office, Branch, or Centres and provide first-level approval for teller transactions.
Proofread teller local cash and cheque deposit transactions and audit teller cash tills at the close of business.
Maintain the register of received documents and provide first-level verification.
Input or provide first-level approval for opening, amending, and closing accounts, as well as mandate creation and withdrawal.
Process Internet Banking application forms and dispatch new tokens to users.
Issue account statements and prepare certificates of balances for County Governments upon request.
Utilize MICR readers to capture cheque images for the Clearing System.
Maintain safe custody of outward cheques and manage unpaid cheque reposting.
Input or provide first-level approval in the T24 System for funds transfer instructions and transaction reversals.
Resolve customer queries and complaints, and draft response letters.
Manage document filing and disposal in accordance with the Bank’s retention policy.
Prepare reconciliations for Banking Internal suspense accounts and maintain the risk register.
Implement audit recommendations and participate in system testing (T24, DhowCSD).
Respond to inquiries regarding investments in Government securities and assist customers with the DhowCSD System.
Conduct MPC Surveys.
Strategic and Other Responsibilities
Contribute to the performance of the function and the achievement of the Bank’s strategic objectives.
Assist in preparing the Banking Strategic Plan and yearly budget for the Banking Unit.
Maintain working relationships with Government departments, County Governments, and commercial banks.
Comply with all Bank policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Provide guidance to KDIC customers at the counter.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Banking, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field of study.
Professional Qualification: Qualification in Banking, Accounting, Finance, or Risk Management is an added advantage.
Experience: At least three (3) years of work experience in Banking Operations, Financial Services, Economics, Accounting, or similar operations.
