The Senior Assistant Director, Capacity Building will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of training and capacity-building strategies at the National Crime Research Centre (NCRC). This role involves establishing policies, guidelines, and protocols to enhance the capabilities of government agencies, the private sector, and other stakeholders involved in the administration of criminal justice. The incumbent will oversee the creation of training curricula, coordinate research exchange programs, and play a pivotal role in resource mobilization and the dissemination of research findings.
Key Responsibilities
- Policy and Strategy: Develop, implement, and review policies, strategies, procedures, guidelines, and programs for capacity building.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to policies, guidelines, and protocols for capacity building and training.
- Curriculum Development: Design training curricula and expert modules for priority areas targeting NCRC stakeholders.
- Program Coordination: Coordinate capacity-building programs and assist the government in formulation and implementation.
- Capacity Enhancement: Formulate and implement programs at the Centre to build efficient capacity within the government, private sector, and other stakeholder groups.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Review training programs in liaison with relevant stakeholders.
- Research Exchange: Establish and coordinate research exchange programs and guide NCRC's academic agenda.
- Standard Setting: Develop standards and procedures for the implementation of various training programs.
- Resource Mobilization: Develop proposals for resource mobilization in collaboration with the relevant department.
- Dissemination: Coordinate the publication and utilization of the Centre's research findings.
Job Specification and Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
- A cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years, with at least three (3) years at the grade of Principal Research Analyst, Assistant Director (Organized Crime, Conventional Crimes, M&E, Information Management, Public Awareness), or an equivalent position.
- A PhD in Statistics, Social Science, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology, Law, Political Science, Crime, Public Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- A Master’s degree in the same fields mentioned above.
- A Bachelor’s degree in the same fields mentioned above.
- A management course lasting at least four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of three (3) publications in peer-reviewed journals, books, or book chapters.
- A minimum of four (4) published research papers or reports.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Demonstrated high degree of professional competence, managerial, and administrative capability.
