As a Senior Accountant at Christ Is the Answer Ministries (CITAM), you will be responsible for ensuring the financial integrity and stability of the ministry. This role involves overseeing general ledger management, budgeting, financial reporting, and treasury functions while leading a team of finance professionals.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger Management: Oversee journal entries, adjustments, and execute month-end and year-end closing procedures to ensure the integrity of financial data.
Budgeting & Analysis: Prepare and monitor budgets against actual performance, analyze variances, and identify areas for cost reduction.
Financial Accuracy: Verify and validate source documents and ERP postings to ensure completeness of financial records through verification and validation.
Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, including balance sheets and cash flow projections to aid strategic decision-making.
Treasury & Payroll: Manage treasury functions including cash flow forecasting, payroll processing, statutory deductions, and electronic payments.
Supervision: Supervise, mentor, and review the work of finance staff to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness with policies and procedures.
Asset Management: Maintain fixed assets and inventory controls, ensuring proper recording and safeguarding of assets.
Audit & Compliance: Prepare audit schedules, draft accounts, and coordinate audit exercises to ensure compliance with IFRS, statutory requirements, and internal policies.
Internal Controls: Establish, maintain, and enforce robust internal control procedures to protect ministry assets.
Tax Compliance: Ensure adherence to local and international laws, ensuring all regulatory returns are filed on time.
Decision Support: Provide financial insights and support decision-making across departments and units.
Requirements
Must be a born-again, mature Christian who conforms to the CITAM Statement of Faith.
Bachelor's degree in commerce/ business administration (Accounting/Finance option).
CPA (K) or equivalent professional qualifications.
Active membership in ICPAK.
Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience, with supervisory responsibility in a similar role.
Experience working within a parachurch or faith-based organization is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge and experience in ERP systems (preferably Sage X3).
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
