United Winners Savings and Credit Co-operatives Society Ltd (formerly known as Umoja Wendani Sacco) is seeking an Accounts Assistant. This position is responsible for keeping up-to-date financial records and bank reconciliations while updating and safeguarding company assets.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Record Maintenance: Daily maintenance and updating of the cash book. Ensure receipts and payments are accurately posted in the cash book and the respective vote head.
Reconciliations: Ensure all banks, Agency Banking, ATM, and investment accounts are reconciled on a daily basis. Confirm receipts and payments against the bank statement and identify uncleared or bounced cheques.
Internal Controls: Ensure all payments are authorized according to the Internal Control Policy. Surrender end-of-day cashier reconciliation alongside payment and deposit vouchers to the supervisor.
Cash Management: Handle cash within insurance limits, pay cash to customers with proper documentation, and review/disburse authorized petty cash requests. Filing and maintaining petty cash vouchers.
Member Services: Ensure receipts are properly entered and reconciled with members' statements for loans, interest, deposits, share capital, and registration fees. Issue cheques to customers following proper authorization.
Customer Support: Attend to customer queries concerning their accounts, provide financial advice, and give correct information to customers as required.
Growth and Marketing: Recruit new members and market Sacco services and products.
General Duties: Perform any other lawful duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Working Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
CPA- Part 1 qualification.
At least 2 years’ experience in a related accounting or finance field.
Skills and Competencies
Strong accounting skills.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Excellent customer service skills.
