The Security Officer II is responsible for the overall security and safety of all Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) buildings, rental premises, property, equipment, and personnel, including staff, visitors, and tenants. The role involves implementing robust security systems, managing surveillance, and maintaining close liaison with external law enforcement and security agencies to safeguard the Authority's assets and reputation.
Key Responsibilities
Security Management: Arrange and coordinate security coverage across the Authority for staff, tenants, visitors, and properties.
System Implementation: Deploy and monitor sustainable security systems, identifying areas for improvement to maintain a secure environment.
Surveillance & Technology: Implement CCTV surveillance systems and collaborate with the ICT team to ensure real-time data collection and monitoring.
Training & Sensitization: Conduct security sensitization programs for staff and facilitate relevant training sessions.
Access Control: Manage the issuance of staff badges, visitor tags, and identification cards for contractors to track incoming and outgoing traffic.
Investigation: Lead investigations into security breaches and ensure cases are resolved within established timeframes.
Agency Liaison: Maintain active communication with external security providers, law enforcement, and other government agencies.
Intelligence & Reporting: Gather security intelligence, prepare security briefs, and maintain a daily occurrence report of all crimes and incidents.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement safety measures to respond effectively to emergencies and assist employees or clients.
Risk Assessment: Conduct security surveys and regular inspections of premises to mitigate risks related to theft, fire, and assault.
Compliance: Enforce institutional compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing security functions.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Security Studies, Criminology and Criminal Justice, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Communication: Ability to prepare detailed periodic reports based on observations and surveillance activities.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of security protocols and emergency response procedures.
