Under the supervision of the Security Associate (G-6), the Security Assistant provides technical, operational, and administrative support to the Country Field Security Advisor (CFSA) and Security Section.
Key Responsibilities
You as a Security Assistant will contribute to:
Ensuring the safety and security of personnel and eligible family members of all UNICEF personnel in Kenya.
Safeguarding UNICEF assets and premises.
Supporting secure programme implementation.
Compliance with UN security policies, procedures, and standards.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks:
Security Planning: Support security planning and risk management activities.
Safety and Security Services: Facilitate safety and security compliance for personnel and facilities.
Security Coordination and Networking: Assist in coordinating security operations and maintaining contacts with local authorities and partners.
Knowledge Management and Capacity Building: Support capacity-building efforts and security training.
Requirements and Qualifications
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Secondary Education in any related fields.
Work Experience: At least 5 years of relevant work experience in Security, security management, risk management, emergency response, physical security, incident management, field operations, stakeholder coordination, safety compliance, training and capacity building, travel security, and any other related fields.
Skills: Strong experience in Security Information, Analytical Skills, Communication, Coordination, Planning, and Reporting skills is required.
Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.
Desirables:
Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language.
Knowledge: Knowledge of Humanitarian Operations, Residential Security, Incident Reporting, MOSS, Contingency Planning, and Vehicle Tracking Systems is considered an asset.
Context: Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
