As a Sea Logistics Sales Representative (FS-VS), you are an integral part of the Customer Care Locations and Teams at Kuehne + Nagel. Your primary focus and priority are to win new customers, especially within the segment of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), and to develop new business involving Full Container Loads (FCL) and Less than Container Loads (LCL). Working closely with the Sea Logistics Team, your overarching goal is to provide an extraordinary customer experience, which is crucial to the success of Kuehne+Nagel’s Roadmap 2026 and Vision 2030.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Generation & Prospecting: Search for potential customers via internal and external sources and approach them through various communication channels, including cold calls and social media.
- Relationship Management: Engage in online and physical meetings with potential customers to build trust and long-term relationships.
- Pipeline Development: Create and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects and opportunities to meet personal and company growth aspirations.
- CRM Data Management: Ensure transparency of account growth and prospect activities within Kuehne + Nagel’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
- Consultative Selling: Act as a consultant for customers, explaining seafreight market developments and building end-to-end solutions using Kuehne+Nagel’s services and the myKN online platform.
- Pricing & Quotations: Provide quotations in collaboration with internal stakeholders and pricing software, and make pricing decisions aligned with the Customer Care Location Manager.
- Implementation Support: Facilitate the implementation of new business in coordination with the Sea Logistics Team.
- Market Research: Conduct research on market potential and share customer feedback with internal stakeholders to improve services.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor transport volumes (booked, shipped, and invoiced) for your accounts using sales visibility software.
- Collaboration: Foster best-practice sharing and collaboration with colleagues within the Sea Logistics Sales community.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or First University Degree in Sales, Marketing, Economics, or Business Administration from a reputable academic institution.
- Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of work experience as a sales representative within the Clearing & Forwarding or Logistics industry.
- Technical Skills: Advanced computer skills and proficiency in using CRM software.
- Languages: Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
- Mobility: A valid driving license and a personal vehicle are required, along with a willingness to travel within the area of responsibility.
- Soft Skills: Hunger and determination to win, a hands-on mentality, and the ability to build trust with decision-makers through excellent communication and negotiation skills.
