Missions of Hope International (MOHI) is seeking a School Laboratory Technician. The position is responsible for the preparation of instructions and materials used during laboratory experiments and demonstrations. This includes managing practical equipment and making up the solutions used in school science labs. The role also involves instructing and assisting teachers with practical skills, including class demonstrations, for advanced techniques across all disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Coordination and Supervising Science Practicals
Proper maintenance of practical materials and instructions in all science subjects.
Maintaining accurate lists of students participating in practical sessions.
Organized filing of laboratory documentation for all subjects.
Laboratory Management
Maintaining updated inventory records of all apparatus and equipment.
Keeping organized records of invoices for purchased laboratory items.
Managing stock levels for all chemicals, including tracking used and unused quantities.
Cleanliness and Maintenance
Displaying laboratory rules clearly within the workspace.
Ensuring general cleanliness of the lab, including benches, floors, and equipment.
Maintaining laboratory charts and educational wall displays.
Cleaning apparatus and equipment immediately after use.
Performing regular inspections and simple repairs of laboratory facilities.
Maintaining records of breakages.
Ensuring the availability and readiness of first aid kits and fire extinguishers.
Examination and Preparation
Timely preparation of the laboratory for examinations.
Preparing stock solutions needed for assessments.
Reporting any emergencies or issues immediately.
Drafting orders for chemicals and equipment required for upcoming exams.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Certificate or Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology.
A Major or Minor in Biology, Physics, or Chemistry.
At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
Skills and Competencies
Strong technical knowledge in scientific disciplines.
High level of accuracy and reliability.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage workloads independently.

Good IT skills.
Effective written and oral communication skills for interacting with students and staff.
