The Sales Development Intern will support the organization’s growth objectives by actively contributing to field sales lead generation activities. The role focuses on identifying, engaging, and qualifying potential clients through market research, direct outreach, networking, and community engagement. The intern will help build and maintain a strong sales pipeline by leveraging both in-person interactions and digital tools to track and manage leads.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Identification: Identify potential clients within target markets through research, local directories, field sales activities, and industry analysis.
Prospect Analysis: Gather and analyze information on prospective clients, including business needs, key decision-makers, and competitive positioning.
Database Management: Maintain an updated database of prospects and market insights.
Outreach: Conduct cold calls and participate in door-to-door visits to sell the company’s services.
Conversion: Schedule meetings and perform regular follow-ups with prospectives to convert them to clients under the guidance of senior business development staff.
Networking: Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking forums to identify and engage potential leads, representing the organization professionally.
Client Retention: Support efforts to generate referrals from existing clients and assist in maintaining relationships to encourage repeat business.
Revenue Growth: Grow revenue from existing clients through upselling, cross-selling, and repeat business with guidance.
Qualification: Assist in qualifying leads by gathering information on client needs, budgets, and decision-making processes.
Reporting: Track daily and weekly field activities, including visits, calls, and meetings, and prepare performance reports.
Tech Utilization: Use CRM and mobile tools to manage leads and schedule activities; adopt new technological tools like AI for research.
Compliance: Support compliance with company policies, standard operating procedures, and relevant laws like the Data Protection Act.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Marketing, Business Administration, Business Development, or a related field.
0–1 year of experience in Sales and Business Development.
Basic understanding of marketing and/or sales principles.
Familiarity with digital tools and platforms (Microsoft Office, social media, Google Workspace).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
High level of organization and willingness to learn.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
Professional certifications (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot Inbound Marketing, or PMP).
Exposure to CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce).
Interest in AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude) for research and content support.
