Equity Afia is a network of medical entrepreneurs dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare to Kenyans. They are seeking a Resident Medical Officer/Clinic Lead to join their team. This role combines clinical expertise with administrative leadership, requiring the successful candidate to manage both patient care and the operational efficiency of the medical center.
Role Overview
The Resident Medical Officer/Clinic Lead is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations of the medical center. This includes providing direct medical care, leading a multidisciplinary team, and managing the facility's administrative and financial health. The ideal candidate will be a registered medical professional with a strong interest in healthcare management and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality medical consultations and treatment to patients.
Lead and manage the clinic's medical team and support staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
Oversee day-to-day clinical operations and ensure compliance with healthcare standards and policies.
Manage clinic budgets, including cost control and basic financial accounting.
Ensure accurate patient documentation and reporting using Health Management Information Systems (HMIS).
Maintain knowledge of Kenyan health laws, regulations, guidelines, and health schemes.
Facilitate effective communication between staff, patients, and other stakeholders.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor of Medicine or Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or MBBS) from a recognized university.
Current registration and a valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
At least one (1) year of post-internship experience in a public or private hospital setting.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Strong understanding of healthcare policies, documentation, and reporting procedures.
Proficiency in computer skills, specifically Health Management Information Systems (HMIS).
Desirable Skills
Strong clinical decision-making and patient management skills.
Interest in medical leadership and staff management.
Project management and technical report writing skills.
Basic knowledge of budgeting and cost management.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
