The Commission for University Education (CUE) is seeking a qualified Research Officer (Job Grade CUE 6) to support its mandate in regulating and assuring quality in university education in Kenya. This role involves managing research activities, data collection, and policy development to ensure the university sector aligns with national development goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collecting and disseminating information related to university education and research.
Identifying research problems and implementing research projects.
Evaluating project proposals and designing data collection procedures and instruments.
Collecting and collating data on research projects and maintaining comprehensive reports.
Participating in the drafting, reviewing, and implementation of research policies and strategies.
Supporting identification of research priorities for the organization and the development of research agenda for the university sector.
Participating in the review of the Commissions’ Strategic Plan, annual work plans, and Performance Contracts to align with national development goals.
Participating in the development and implementation of the University Education Management Information System (UEMIS) to monitor university education in the country.
Monitoring research teams and providing timely progress reports.
Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Economics, Statistics, Planning, or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Membership of a relevant professional body/Institution where applicable.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

Mandatory Compliance Documents

Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
Clearance Certificate from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
