PEARLS MATRIX is looking for versatile Research Midwives with experience in community, clinical nursing, and research skills. The incumbent will support study implementation through participant recruitment, clinical procedures, retinal imaging, sample collection, follow-up, and accurate real-time data entry using REDCap, in compliance with study protocols and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
Key Responsibilities
Pre-screening and screening potentially eligible participants for clinical research studies.
Obtaining informed consent while ensuring participant rights, safety, and confidentiality are safeguarded.
Conducting scheduled study visits and performing required clinical assessments.
Performing retinal imaging (fundoscopy) ensuring quality and protocol adherence.
Performing or supporting laboratory and point-of-care tests (e.g., FBC, OGTT).
Entering and managing study data in REDCap accurately and in real-time, maintaining high quality and integrity.
Maintaining source documents and responding to data queries promptly.
Scheduling upcoming visits and actively following up with participants to ensure retention.
Identifying high-risk cases and facilitating timely referral and clinical care.
Ensuring protocol adherence and reporting adverse events or deviations.
Maintaining study equipment and ensuring availability of supplies.
Participating in trainings, monitoring visits, and routine study meetings.
Working with community health promoters and peer leaders to mobilize participants.
Maintaining study logs (screening, training, and reimbursement logs).
Performing quality control and quality assurance activities as guided by site SOPs and Quality Management Plans.
Qualifications and Experience
A Diploma in Community Health Nursing (KRCHN), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, or an equivalent field.
Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) with a valid practicing license.
Two (2) years of continuous clinical experience with ANC, Maternity, and Rural health experience.
At least one (1) year of prior experience conducting clinical research, including maternal health clinical trials.
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Human Subjects Protection Training certificates are an added advantage.
Strong maternal health clinical skills and proficiency in REDCap or electronic data systems.
High accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
