The Research & Development (R&D) Assistant will support end-to-end FMCG product development activities, from concept and formulation through pilot trials, scale-up, validation, and commercialization. This role requires a hands-on individual with strong laboratory, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills to ensure the timely delivery of market-ready products that meet consumer needs and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Product Development & Formulation
Support the development of new and improved FMCG products.
Conduct laboratory trials, benchmarking, and reformulation exercises.
Prepare prototypes for testing and review.
End-to-End Project Support
Assist across the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch.
Support pilot trials, factory scale-up processes, and production runs.
Aid in the technical transfer of information from R&D to manufacturing.
Testing & Documentation
Perform physical, chemical, and performance tests on products.
Support stability and shelf-life studies.
Maintain accurate reports and detailed technical specifications.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement, Marketing, and Regulatory teams.
Support troubleshooting during the production phase.
Compliance & Improvement
Adhere to GMP, ISO, and safety standards.
Maintain lab safety and organizational standards.
Contribute to cost and process improvements.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
1-3 years of experience in FMCG R&D, product development, laboratory settings, or a manufacturing environment.
Exposure to end-to-end product development (from lab to factory) is required.
Key Competencies
Basic knowledge of formulation and product testing.
Familiarity with GMP, ISO, and safety standards for food or personal care products.
Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data recording systems.
Detail-oriented, proactive, and team-focused approach.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
