We are seeking a Renewables Energy Engineer to deliver engineering services across a wide range of renewable energy projects including Solar PV, Wind, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The successful candidate will help plan, design, deliver, and manage infrastructure in ways that maximize value, helping to nurture thriving communities, growing economies, and healthy environments.
Responsibilities
Engineering Delivery: Deliver engineering services across renewable energy projects (Solar PV, Wind, BESS, and hybrid solutions). Lead or review technical designs, calculations, and specifications to ensure solutions are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. Provide senior technical input across the full project lifecycle.
Project Management & Client Delivery: Manage projects and client engagements end-to-end, including scope definition, programme planning, risk management, and reporting. Act as the primary technical interface with clients, contractors, utilities, and regulators.
Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, civil, mechanical, environmental, and advisory teams to deliver complex projects. Coordinate inputs from multiple stakeholders to ensure integrated and coherent technical solutions.
Innovation & Digital Excellence: Contribute to improving design methodologies, tools, and digital ways of working. Identify opportunities to standardize and optimize technical processes.
Technical Assurance & Risk: Identify and manage technical, construction, and operational risks. Ensure compliance with Kenyan regulations, international standards, and grid codes. Lead technical due diligence for investors and lenders.
Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, upholding high technical standards.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Registration with a local engineering body (EBK/IEK).
8-15 years of relevant experience, preferably within a consulting environment.
Proven experience delivering renewable energy projects (Solar PV, Wind, and BESS) in capacities such as development, design, owner’s engineer, or EPC support.
Experience in early-stage renewable project development, including prospecting and energy modelling.
