Role Overview\nMount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a qualified Remote Tele-Medicine Lecturer in Ophthalmology. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering online instruction and tele-medicine training sessions to undergraduate and graduate students, leveraging digital health technologies to enhance medical education. This role reports to the Dean of the Medical School.\n\n### Duties and Responsibilities\n- Deliver online lectures, virtual demonstrations, and tele-medicine training sessions according to the approved curriculum.\n- Prepare digital teaching materials, e-learning resources, and virtual instructional content.\n- Administer online Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs), assignments, and examinations. Set, invigilate, mark, and submit results within university timelines.\n- Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and supervision to students via virtual platforms, including clinical case discussions and tele-medicine simulations.\n- Effectively use tele-medicine technologies and digital learning systems to enhance educational outcomes.\n- Maintain accurate electronic student records, including attendance and progress reports, within the Academic Management System.\n- Stay current with advancements in tele-medicine, digital health, and medical education.\n- Participate in virtual academic meetings, curriculum reviews, quality assurance activities, and research initiatives.\n- Observe confidentiality, data protection, and professional ethical standards in all online instructions.\n\n### Requirements and Qualifications\n- Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology (relevant area of specialization) from a recognized academic institution.\n- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).\n- At least three years of teaching and research experience at a university level.\n- Relevant work experience in the medical industry.\n- Registered and licensed to practice by the Relevant Professional Body (e.g., KMPDC).\n- An earned PhD degree in the relevant area or being registered for a PhD qualification is a significant plus.\n\n### How to Apply\nInterested applicants should provide a cover letter including their area of specialization, qualifications, experience, availability (E-Learning), and salary expectations (with a current payslip).
