Job Description
Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, holistic, and inclusive system of education. The university is seeking a Remote Tele-Medicine Lecturer specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology. This role involves delivering medical education through digital platforms and training students in tele-medicine practices to promote human resource development.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Deliver online lectures, virtual demonstrations, and tele-medicine training sessions in accordance with the approved curriculum and course schedules.
Content Creation: Prepare digital teaching materials, e-learning resources, and virtual instructional content for undergraduate and graduate students.
Virtual Engagement: Facilitate interactive online learning experiences through virtual learning platforms and teleconferencing technologies.
Assessment and Grading: Administer online Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs), assignments, practical assessments, and examinations in line with University regulations. Set, invigilate, mark, and submit results within stipulated timelines.
Mentorship: Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and supervision to students through virtual platforms, supporting them in clinical case discussions, research activities, and evidence-based practice.
System Utilization: Ensure effective utilization of tele-medicine technologies and digital learning systems. Maintain accurate electronic student records, attendance registers, and progress updates within the Academic Management System.
Professional Development: Keep abreast of advancements in tele-medicine, digital health technologies, and medical education. Participate in virtual academic meetings, curriculum reviews, workshops, and professional seminars.
Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders to advance research, innovation, and digital healthcare learning initiatives.
Ethics and Compliance: Observe confidentiality, data protection requirements, and professional ethical standards in all online instructions.
Requirements and Qualifications
Medical Degree: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
Specialization: Masters of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynecology or a relevant area from a recognized academic institution.
Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at a university level.
Industry Experience: Relevant work experience in the medical industry.
Licensing: Must be registered and licensed to practice by the Relevant Professional Body (e.g., KMPDC).
PhD: An earned PhD degree in the relevant area or being registered/registrable for a PhD will be an added advantage.
