Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Remote Tele-Medicine Lecturer specializing in Mycology to join the Medical School. This role is designed for a medical professional with expertise in fungal diseases and a strong proficiency in digital health technologies. The lecturer will be responsible for delivering virtual education, mentoring medical students, and conducting tele-medicine training sessions to ensure a high standard of clinical education in a remote setting. The position reports directly to the Dean of the Medical School.
Responsibilities
Deliver online lectures, virtual demonstrations, and tele-medicine training sessions in accordance with the approved curriculum and course schedules.
Prepare digital teaching materials, e-learning resources, and virtual instructional content for undergraduate and graduate students.
Facilitate interactive online learning experiences through virtual learning platforms and teleconferencing technologies.
Administer online Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs), assignments, practical assessments, and examinations in line with University regulations.
Set, invigilate, mark, and submit assessments and examination results within the stipulated timelines.
Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and supervision to students through virtual platforms.
Support students in clinical case discussions, tele-medicine simulations, research activities, and evidence-based practice.
Ensure effective utilization of tele-medicine technologies and digital learning systems to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
Maintain accurate electronic student records, attendance registers, assessment reports, and learner progress updates within the Academic Management System.
Keep abreast of advancements in tele-medicine, digital health technologies, and medical education to enhance curriculum delivery.
Participate in virtual academic meetings, curriculum reviews, quality assurance activities, workshops, conferences, and professional seminars as required.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in advancing research, innovation, and digital healthcare learning initiatives.
Observe confidentiality, data protection requirements, and professional ethical standards in the delivery of online and tele-medicine instruction.
Undertake any other academic-related duties assigned by the Dean or Head of Department from time to time.
Qualifications and Requirements
Masters of Medicine in the relevant area of specialization (Mycology) from a recognized academic institution.
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
At least three years of teaching and research experience at a university.
Relevant work experience in the medical industry.
Registered and licensed to practice by the Relevant Professional Body.
An earned PhD degree qualification in the relevant area from a recognized/accredited university OR being registered/registrable for a PhD will be an added advantage.
