Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a qualified and experienced Remote Tele-Medicine Lecturer specializing in Gross & Clinical Pathology. This role is designed for a medical professional capable of delivering high-quality education through digital and virtual platforms. Reporting to the Dean of the Medical School, the successful candidate will facilitate the learning process for undergraduate and graduate students, ensuring they gain comprehensive knowledge in pathology within a remote learning environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Online Teaching: Deliver online lectures, virtual demonstrations, and tele-medicine training sessions in accordance with the approved curriculum and course schedules.
Content Creation: Prepare digital teaching materials, e-learning resources, and virtual instructional content specifically for medical students.
Interactive Learning: Facilitate interactive online learning experiences using virtual platforms and teleconferencing technologies.
Assessment: Administer online Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs), assignments, practical assessments, and examinations. Responsible for setting, invigilating, marking, and submitting results within stipulated timelines.
Student Mentorship: Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and supervision to students through virtual platforms, supporting clinical case discussions and research activities.
Technology Utilization: Ensure effective utilization of tele-medicine technologies and digital systems to enhance learning outcomes.
Record Management: Maintain accurate electronic student records, attendance registers, and assessment reports within the Academic Management System.
Professional Engagement: Participate in virtual academic meetings, curriculum reviews, quality assurance activities, and professional seminars.
Compliance: Observe strict confidentiality, data protection requirements, and professional ethical standards in all digital instruction.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and a Masters of Medicine in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized institution.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of teaching and research experience at the university level.
Industry Experience: Relevant work experience within the medical industry is required.
Licensing: Must be registered and licensed to practice by the relevant professional body in Kenya.
Advantageous: An earned PhD degree in a relevant area or registration/registrable status for a PhD is a significant advantage.
