Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a qualified Remote Tele-Medicine Lecturer specialized in Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT). This role involves delivering specialized medical education through remote and tele-medicine platforms, combining academic instruction with modern digital health technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering online lectures, managing virtual learning environments, and assessing students in undergraduate and graduate medical programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Deliver online lectures, virtual demonstrations, and tele-medicine training sessions in accordance with the approved curriculum and course schedules.
Content Creation: Prepare digital teaching materials, e-learning resources, and virtual instructional content for undergraduate and graduate students.
Learning Facilitation: Facilitate interactive online learning experiences through virtual learning platforms and teleconferencing technologies.
Assessment: Administer online Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs), assignments, practical assessments, and examinations. Set, invigilate, mark, and submit assessment results within stipulated timelines.
Mentorship: Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and supervision to students through virtual platforms, supporting them in clinical case discussions, tele-medicine simulations, and research.
Technology Utilization: Ensure effective utilization of tele-medicine technologies and digital learning systems to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
Records Management: Maintain accurate electronic student records, attendance registers, assessment reports, and learner progress updates within the Academic Management System.
Professional Growth: Keep abreast of advancements in tele-medicine, digital health technologies, and medical education to enhance curriculum delivery.
Institutional Collaboration: Participate in virtual academic meetings, curriculum reviews, quality assurance activities, workshops, and professional seminars. Collaborate with stakeholders in advancing research and digital healthcare initiatives.
Ethics and Compliance: Observe confidentiality, data protection requirements, and professional ethical standards in the delivery of online instruction.
Qualifications and Requirements
Specialized Education: Masters of Medicine (MMed) in ENT or a relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Basic Medical Degree: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
Academic Experience: At least three years of teaching and research experience at a university level.
Industry Experience: Relevant work experience in the medical industry.
Professional Licensure: Must be registered and licensed to practice by the Relevant Professional Body (Medical Council).
Advanced Advantage: An earned PhD degree in the relevant area OR being registered/registrable for a PhD will be an added advantage.
