Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the position of Remote Tele-Medicine Lecturer in Dermatology. As a fully-fledged chartered university committed to holistic education, MKU is looking for an individual who can leverage digital health technologies to deliver high-quality medical education to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Deliver online lectures, virtual demonstrations, and tele-medicine training sessions in accordance with the approved curriculum and course schedules.
Content Creation: Prepare digital teaching materials, e-learning resources, and virtual instructional content tailored for medical students.
Interactive Learning: Facilitate engaging online learning experiences using virtual learning platforms and teleconferencing technologies.
Assessment: Administer online Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs), assignments, and practical assessments. Set, invigilate, mark, and submit examination results within university timelines.
Mentorship: Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and supervision to students through virtual platforms, including clinical case discussions and tele-medicine simulations.
Technological Optimization: Ensure effective utilization of tele-medicine technologies and digital learning systems to enhance learning outcomes.
Administrative Support: Maintain accurate electronic student records, attendance registers, and assessment reports within the Academic Management System.
Professional Development: Stay updated on advancements in tele-medicine, digital health technologies, and medical education to continuously improve curriculum delivery.
Collaboration: Participate in virtual academic meetings, curriculum reviews, quality assurance activities, and collaborate with stakeholders on digital healthcare research and innovation.
Ethics & Compliance: Observe confidentiality, data protection requirements, and professional ethical standards in all digital instructions.
Requirements for Appointment
Education: Masters of Medicine in Dermatology (or relevant specialization) from a recognized academic institution.
Medical Degree: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at a university level.
Industry Experience: Relevant work experience in the medical industry.
Licensure: Must be registered and licensed to practice by the Relevant Professional Body (Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council).
Added Advantage: An earned PhD degree qualification in the relevant area or being registered/registrable for a PhD will be an added advantage.
