Job Description
Nairobi Adventist Hospital (NAH) is a Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) church-established and owned tertiary (level 4) hospital located in Nyari West, Westlands, Nairobi. The Registered Clinical Officer will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care, including diagnostics and treatment management, while ensuring patient safety and effective communication.
Role Overview
The Registered Clinical Officer provides essential clinical services across outpatient and inpatient settings. This includes conducting thorough physical examinations, interpreting diagnostic results, and developing comprehensive treatment plans. The role also involves patient education, medical documentation, and timely escalation of complex cases to specialists.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive and good quality clinical services to patients through taking history, examining, diagnosing, and ordering laboratory and imaging investigations as appropriate.
Interpret history and physical exam findings, as well as laboratory and imaging results, to make a diagnosis and institute treatment plans for common ailments.
Ensure prompt communication and escalation of medical cases requiring senior review to medical officers or specialists.
Complete all care-related documentation including discharge summaries, medical reports, and certificates in consultation with the medical officer in-charge.
Guide and counsel patients and relatives on health issues, emphasizing preventive and promotive health care.
Prepare and present medico-legal reports, as well as mortality and morbidity reports when required.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the hospital management.
Qualifications and Requirements
Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or a Bachelor Degree in Clinical Medicine from a recognized institution.
Must be a Registered Officer with the Clinical Officer Council.
Must possess a current and valid Practice License.
Must possess current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Proficiency in computer applications.
At least two years of working experience as a Clinical Officer in a busy hospital.
