The Recreation Services Specialist is responsible for facilitating recreation programs and services to enhance the morale and welfare of military personnel and civilians. This role supports recreational activities, ensures compliance with safety standards, and delivers excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Program Oversight: Support the development, delivery, and oversight of recreation programs and activities to meet the needs of the military community.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with guidelines for the handling and storage of hazardous materials in accordance with CNICINST 1710.3, Chapter 1, Section 114.
Emergency Preparedness: Maintain a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or obtain certification prior to employment.
Customer Relations: Participate in and complete customer service training equivalent to the Navy’s MWR Star Service, Achieving Extraordinary Customer Relations (AECR) course.
Operational Management: Manage day-to-day recreational services and ensure smooth operation of programs and facilities, with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.
Event Coordination: Set up and support the delivery of special events, sports leagues, and community-wide recreational activities.
Patron Interaction: Interact with patrons, respond to inquiries, and ensure customer needs are met professionally.
Facility Maintenance: Maintain and inspect recreational equipment and facilities to ensure readiness and compliance with safety standards.
Inventory Control: Assist in the proper management and inventory of supplies and materials used in recreational programs and activities.
Minimum Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Certifications: Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification before employment begins.
Technical Training: Training or certification in the proper handling and storage of hazardous materials as specified in CNICINST 1710.3, Chapter 1, Section 114.
Service Training: Completion of, or willingness to complete, customer service training equivalent to the Navy’s MWR Star Service (AECR course).
Experience: Familiarity with recreational activities, programs, and customer service in a community or military setting.
Travel Requirements: Must possess a valid passport (valid for at least 1 year at time of hiring) and be able to travel internationally.
Medical: Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
