REACH Field Officer

Role Objectives

• Remotely support Sudan-based Field Staff and in-person Research Focal Points in Kenya to accurately estimate assessment timelines and resource needs.
• Design and implement work plans in coordination with Research focal points and field staff.
• Ensure assessment strategies are implemented at the field level in a structured, coherent manner aligned with project objectives.
• Manage and coordinate daily assessment operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Research Design & Implementation: Support the design of research cycles based on existing guidelines and lessons learned. Assist with the development of work plans, timelines, and the design/translation of data collection tools (Questionnaires, Kobo, ODK).
• Field Coordination: Prepare logistical and administrative details for data collection (coverage trackers, field schedules). Coordinate, plan, and deliver training for assessment teams.
• Data Management: Supervise data collectors to ensure accuracy and adherence to methodology. Perform daily data cleaning, validation, and quality assurance checks according to REACH standards.
• Monitoring & Reporting: Track progress and report delays or challenges to Research staff. Provide timely updates to field partners regarding data collection coverage.
• Compliance & Security: Follow ACTED safety and security protocols, adhere to the code of conduct, and ensure the privacy and security of field information.
• Protection Mainstreaming: Promote and adhere to Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policies.
• Team & Partner Management: Facilitate a positive work environment through regular check-ins and maintain clear communication channels with data collection partners.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in humanitarian or development organizations.
• Familiarity with the humanitarian coordination system.
• Willingness and ability to coordinate and supervise field work remotely in a volatile environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Social Science, Development, etc.).
• Proven experience using ODK/Kobo for quantitative data collection.
• Experience supervising diverse assessment methodologies (in-person, remote, quantitative, and qualitative).
• Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
• Written and spoken fluency in English is mandatory; Arabic fluency is strongly desired.
• Legal documentation to work in Kenya is mandatory.
