Job Description
The Busara Center for Behavioral Economics is seeking a Quality Assurance Analyst to work closely with project teams and ensure the highest standards of research data integrity. This role involves monitoring research data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency across both qualitative and quantitative datasets. You will be responsible for identifying and troubleshooting discrepancies, validating datasets, and serving as a quality assurance resource for the leadership and project teams. Additionally, the role includes conducting quality reviews of survey instruments, coordinating QA checks during survey development, and supporting the implementation of QA processes for field operations.
Core Quality Assurance Responsibilities
Data Monitoring: Review research data to ensure accuracy and consistency across qualitative and quantitative datasets.
Discrepancy Resolution: Identify and resolve irregularities in internal and external research data.
Data Validation: Work with project teams to source, clean, and validate datasets to meet internal quality standards.
Survey Instrument Review: Conduct QA reviews of survey instruments for logical flow, clarity, and methodological rigor.
Development Coordination: Coordinate QA checks during survey development, including formatting, logic testing, and translation review.
Field Support: Support monitoring of data collection processes to ensure adherence to research protocols and ethical standards.
Field Audits: Plan and implement quality assurance processes for field operations, including data audits and spot checks.
Deliverable Review: Review client reports and research deliverables for alignment with underlying data.
Reporting Assistance: Support the preparation of methodological documentation and research summaries.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to strengthen internal QA systems and documentation.
Team Coordination: Ensure coordination with finance, procurement, and operations teams to support smooth research implementation.
Other Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned by the project supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Economics, or a related field.
Demonstrated interest or experience in quality assurance, data validation, or audit of data workflows.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns and inconsistencies in processes or datasets.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
High level of self-motivation and a solutions-oriented attitude.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Fluency in English.
Ability and willingness to travel to project locations as required (in-country and regional sites).
Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with research quality frameworks and auditing methods.
Experience with data validation and cleaning using statistical tools like R, Python, STATA, or SAS.
Exposure to large-scale research, evaluation, or consulting projects.
Understanding of data management systems and behavioral science research methodologies.
