Job Description
Peoplelink Consultants Ltd is seeking a Public Relations Specialist to manage and build a positive public image for our client's brand within the Kenyan market. The role focuses on strategic relationship management with influencers (KOLs) and media outlets, ensuring consistent brand visibility and effective communication of product messages, particularly within the mobile and tech sectors.
Responsibilities
Influencer & KOL Management: Identify, recruit, and manage strategic relationships with key Kenyan Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and influencers to drive brand advocacy. Oversee the product seeding process and supervise the production of high-quality influencer content to ensure accurate messaging.
Database Maintenance: Maintain a comprehensive database of core KOLs and foster long-term partnerships for consistent brand visibility.
Media Relations: Leverage existing personal networks to secure high-level coverage in top-tier Kenyan tech media and mainstream publications. Act as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and facilitate interviews, press briefings, and media tours.
Launch Execution: Ensure maximum media exposure during product launches while maintaining daily relations and coverage analysis.
Content Creation: Draft, edit, and localize press releases, media kits, and Q&A documents to fit the Kenyan market. Translate global technical specifications into compelling local stories that resonate with Kenyan consumers.
Event Management: Lead the planning and on-site execution of PR events, including product launches, media salons, and fan experiences.
Reputation Management: Monitor industry news and social media sentiment to proactively manage negative publicity and mitigate reputational risks.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree (BA/BSc/HND) in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Public Relations, preferably in the Mobile Phone, Consumer Electronics (3C), or Tech industry.
Network: Must possess a proven, existing network of contacts within the Kenyan mobile/tech media landscape and top-tier KOLs.
Communication: Exceptional command of both English and Swahili in written and verbal communication.
Digital Literacy: Strong understanding of the local digital landscape, including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Twitter/X.
Attributes: Results-oriented personality with high energy and the ability to work under the pressure of fast-paced product launch cycles.
