Job Description
COVAW is a registered non-governmental organization founded in 1995 to address violence against women and the lack of women in decision-making processes. The Programmes Manager is a critical role responsible for the success of organizational programs and long-term financial stability. The role involves strategic input, planning, budgeting, and oversight of program implementation and monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Provide input to the development of COVAW strategy and objectives.
Program Management: Lead the planning, budgeting, development, implementation, and monitoring of programs.
Reporting: Prepare progress reports for internal decision-making and external stakeholders.
Resource Mobilization: Work with the Executive Director to implement resource mobilization and fundraising strategies.
Coordination: Oversee seamless training sessions, including managing venues and materials.
Surveys & Evaluations: Oversee baseline surveys, as well as internal and external project surveys in implementation areas.
Representation: Represent COVAW in meetings with donors and key partners.

Qualifications and Competencies
Education: A Master's degree in Law or Human Rights.
Professional Status: Advocate of the High Court.
Legal Experience: 8+ years of demonstrated experience in international humanitarian law, human rights law, justice and accountability, or criminal law.
Thematic Experience: Minimum 8 years’ experience representing vulnerable individuals in legal aid services and working on cases of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).
Management Skills: Demonstrated experience in a similar program management position, including planning, design, M&E, and budget management.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work in diverse teams.
Languages: Fluency in speaking and writing in English and Kiswahili.
Technical Skills: Strong monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) skills; excellent time management and organizational skills.
