UNICEF is the world’s largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, supporting child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. The Programme Budget Specialist contributes directly to stronger programme budget oversight within the Global Programme Division. You will contribute across four key areas: Programme budget planning & financial monitoring, Dashboard management & KPI analysis, Donor reporting & grant compliance, and Systems support, capacity building & project management. Through this work, you help improve grant performance, strengthen donor accountability, and enhance management visibility, enabling UNICEF to deliver results for children at scale.
Responsibilities
Programme Budget Planning & Financial Monitoring: Lead and coordinate the planning and execution of programme budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Dashboard Management & KPI Analysis: Develop and manage financial dashboards to track performance indicators and provide actionable insights.
Donor Reporting & Grant Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors while maintaining strict compliance with grant requirements.
Systems Support & Capacity Building: Provide technical support for financial systems and build the capacity of team members in budget management and project oversight.
Management Visibility: Enhance management visibility through consistent monitoring of financial metrics and programme impact.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Social Science, Statistics, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering and any other related fields.
Work Experience: A minimum of five years of professional experience is required in one or more of the following areas: programme finance and budget management, operations, monitoring and reporting, programme management, resource mobilization, external relations, or other related fields.
Skills: Proficiency in Budget Monitoring, Grant Management, KPI Analysis, Donor Reporting, Data Analysis, and Financial Reporting.
Language Requirements: Proficiency in English is required.
Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
Skills in Financial Analysis, Dashboard Development, Donor Compliance, Data Consolidation, Performance Monitoring, Reporting, and Digital Dexterity.
Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
