The University of Embu is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Professor in Computer Science. This senior academic position involves advanced teaching, high-level research, and leadership within the university community. The successful candidate will be expected to mentor postgraduate students, secure research funding, and contribute significantly to the academic excellence of the department.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver high-quality lectures and instructional materials to undergraduate and postgraduate students in Computer Science.
Lead and conduct original research, publishing findings in high-impact refereed scholarly journals.
Supervise and mentor Masters and PhD students through to the completion of their research theses.
Actively seek and secure research grants to support departmental and individual research initiatives.
Participate in and contribute to national and international academic conferences, seminars, and workshops.
Provide leadership in university activities, including committee memberships and administrative roles.
Contribute to the development and review of the Computer Science curriculum to ensure industry relevance.
Maintain an active profile of continued research and scholarly engagement.
Qualifications and Experience
Must possess a PhD or Fellowship in Computer Science or a closely related field.
At least twelve (12) years of university teaching experience, with a minimum of three (3) years as a full-time Associate Professor.
A strong record of research evidenced by at least sixty (60) publication points, with forty (40) points coming from refereed scholarly journals since being appointed Associate Professor.
Proven supervision success, having guided at least six (6) Masters and two (2) PhD students to completion since becoming an Associate Professor.
Evidence of securing at least two (2) research grants since being appointed Associate Professor.
Evidence of attendance and contribution of learned conferences, seminars, or workshops.
Evidence of academic leadership and active participation in university-wide activities.
Evidence of continued research.
