The Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Embu is a senior academic leadership position. This role is designed for established scholars who have demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and institutional service. The incumbent will be responsible for delivering advanced curricula in civil engineering, mentoring postgraduate students, and contributing to the university's research output through high-impact publications and the acquisition of external research funding. The role requires a candidate who can provide strategic direction within the department and contribute to the broader academic community.
Key Responsibilities
Provide academic leadership in the field of Civil Engineering through teaching and research.
Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Civil Engineering.
Supervise Masters and PhD students to the successful completion of their degrees.
Conduct and publish high-quality research in refereed scholarly journals.
Secure research grants and external funding to support departmental research initiatives.
Lead and participate in university committees and administrative activities.
Contribute to learned conferences, seminars, and workshops in the field of engineering.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must have at least twelve (12) years of university teaching experience, with at least three (3) of those years served as a full-time Associate Professor.
A minimum of sixty (60) publication points, with at least forty (40) points derived from articles in refereed scholarly journals since the appointment as an Associate Professor.
Evidence of successful supervision to completion of at least six (6) Masters and two (2) PhD students since being appointed Associate Professor.
Proven track record of securing at least two (2) research grants since the appointment as Associate Professor.
Evidence of active participation or leadership in university activities.
Evidence of continued research and contribution to learned conferences, seminars, or workshops.
