Professor Actuarial Science

The University of Embu (UoEm) is seeking a distinguished academic for the position of Professor of Actuarial Science. This senior role involves providing academic leadership, conducting advanced research, and mentoring the next generation of actuarial professionals. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a high level of scholarly output and contribute significantly to the university's research profile.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic leadership in the field of Actuarial Science within the department and university.
• Conduct high-quality teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Supervise postgraduate students, specifically directing at least six (6) Masters and two (2) PhD students to successful completion.
• Secure significant external research grants to support academic projects and institutional growth.
• Publish extensively in refereed scholarly journals and contribute to the global academic community.
• Actively participate in or lead university activities and administrative duties.
• Contribute to professional conferences, seminars, and workshops in the actuarial field.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A PhD or equivalent Fellowship in Actuarial Science or a closely related field.
• At least twelve (12) years of university teaching experience, with a minimum of three (3) years as a full-time Associate Professor.
• A cumulative minimum of sixty (60) publication points, with at least forty (40) points from articles in refereed scholarly journals since being appointed Associate Professor.
• Proven track record of supervising at least six (6) Masters and two (2) PhD students to completion since the last promotion.
• Documented evidence of securing at least two (2) research grants since becoming an Associate Professor.
• Evidence of attendance and contribution to learned conferences, seminars, or workshops.
• Demonstrated leadership in university activities and a commitment to continued research.
