Production Manager

African Labour Solutions (ALS) is a regional Human Resources Consultancy and Management Company. We are seeking a Production Manager to lead and optimize manufacturing operations for a client in the wood product industry. The successful candidate will oversee production planning, resource utilization, and team management while maintaining high quality and safety standards.\n\n### Duties and Responsibilities\n- Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet customer demands and delivery deadlines.\n- Ensure efficient utilization of resources, including raw materials, equipment, and labor.\n- Monitor and adjust production plans as needed to optimize productivity and minimize waste.\n- Lead and manage production supervisors, operators, and workshop support staff with equity and fairness.\n- Provide clear direction, guidance, and support to achieve production targets.\n- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.\n- In liaison with the HR Lead, conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for skill development.\n- Institute and lead the quality control and assurance committee as required.\n- Implement and enforce strict quality control measures throughout the production process.\n- Monitor all product quality and ensure compliance with specifications, industry standards, and the organization's core values.\n- Investigate and resolve any production issues or quality concerns promptly in close liaison with the Directors and key team members as may be necessary.\n- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to develop and improve quality control procedures, including terms of reference from time to time as may be necessary.\n- Continuously evaluate production processes, identify and recommend opportunities for improvement.\n- Develop and implement strategies to increase efficiency, reduce labor and material costs, and enhance overall productivity.\n- Drive Lean manufacturing principles, such as 5S, Six Sigma, and Kaizen, to optimize operations.\n- Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure adequate and timely supply of raw materials.\n- Monitor inventory levels, implement effective inventory control measures, and ensure high stock accuracy.\n- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials.\n- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment, including the use of provided PPE.\n- Conduct regular safety audits, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions, including root cause analysis with recommendations for all incidents and accidents.\n- Provide employees with training and resources to promote safety awareness and best practices.\n\n### Requirements and Qualifications\n- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field.\n- Relevant certifications and advanced degrees are an added advantage.\n- At least 5 years of proven experience as a Production Manager or in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.\n- Strong knowledge of wood product manufacturing processes, including machinery, assembly, finishing, and packaging.\n- Familiarity with quality control standards and policies.\n\n### How to Apply\nQualified candidates are requested to apply by sending their CV to recruitment@africanlaboursolutions.co.ke, quoting the Job Title in the email subject line as "Production Manager".
