Procurement Officer – Pharmaceuticals

The Procurement Officer – Pharmaceuticals is responsible for supporting pharmacy efficiency by ensuring a 100% fill rate and managing optimal pharmaceutical inventory levels. The role involves planning the procure-to-pay processes for pharmaceuticals in conjunction with the Payables accountant, implementing procurement policies for cost management, and assisting the procurement manager with strategic sourcing, vendor management, and contract negotiation.

Key Responsibilities

• Pharmacy Efficiency: Support pharmacy operations by ensuring a 100% fill rate.
• Inventory Management: Manage optimal pharmaceutical inventory levels.
• Financial Planning: Plan the procure-to-pay processes for pharmaceuticals in collaboration with the Payables accountant.
• Cost Management: Drive cost-effectiveness through the implementation of procurement policies.
• Strategic Sourcing: Assist the procurement manager in strategic sourcing, vendor management, and contract negotiation.
• Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with regulatory standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Pharmaceutical and inventory teams to support service delivery and cost-effectiveness.
• Supply Chain Activities: Participate in supplier prequalification and tendering processes.
• Teamwork: Support and collaborate effectively within the procurement team.

Academic and Professional Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Procurement & Logistics.
• Certification: Must have at least a Pharmaceutical technologist certification.
• Professional Membership: Relevant professional membership to KISM or CIPS/PPB certification.
• Experience: Minimum 4 years' experience in procurement, with at least 2 years in a healthcare or pharmaceutical setting.
• Added Advantage: Professional supply chain qualification is considered a plus.
