Tropical Heat is one of the leading manufacturers of spices and snacks in the East African region. We are looking for a dedicated Procurement Officer to manage the acquisition of materials, coordinate stores activities, and implement robust purchasing systems to support our manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Procure materials as requested by user departments to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Material Procurement:
Operational Coordination: Coordinate purchasing and stores activities to achieve the department’s overall objectives.
Systems Implementation: Set up and implement effective purchasing systems and procedures.
Supplier Management: Evaluate and rate suppliers based on efficiency, price, delivery time, and product quality.
Trend Analysis: Monitor trends in the supplier and contract base and propose or implement plans to respond to these trends.
Relationship Building: Build and develop strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure the best value for money and customer satisfaction.
Documentation & Ordering: Raise purchase orders, request quotations, and ensure all orders are placed and deliveries are made promptly.
Data Management: Post all inventory forms on a daily basis and ensure correct cost prices are recorded in ERP and Pastel systems.
Stock Control: Assist in regular stock reconciliation processes.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
Certification: Professional certification in procurement (CIPS, KISM, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience, with a mandatory 2 years in a similar position within the Food Manufacturing Industry.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, or Pastel) and strong computer literacy in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Google Sheets.
Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, high commitment to duty, discipline, honesty, and hard work.
