The National Youth Service (NYS) is seeking to recruit 15 Privates in the Carpentry trade. As the pride and backbone of the nation, the NYS focuses on helping youth discover and develop their potential through technical skills and paramilitary training. These positions are offered on Permanent and Pensionable terms.
Responsibilities and Duties
Perform carpentry and joinery tasks including the construction and repair of furniture and wooden structures.
Interpret technical drawings and blueprints for construction projects within NYS facilities.
Maintain and safely operate woodworking tools and machinery.
Collaborate with other construction professionals on building projects.
Uphold the paramilitary discipline and standards of the National Youth Service.
Execute any other duties as assigned within the building and construction department.
Requirements and Qualifications
A minimum of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Grade D+ (plus) or its approved equivalent.
Must have successfully undergone the initial NYS Paramilitary Training.
Must possess a National Trade Test, Craft, or Diploma Certificate in Carpentry.
Have a clean record with no criminal history.
For the General Duty Cadre, a Senior Service Man/Woman (I and II) certificate is required.
Salary and Benefits
Salary and allowances as per the existing NYS salary scale.
Medical cover through the SHA Scheme of Civil Servants.
