The National Youth Service (NYS) is a premier agency through which the Government of Kenya executes an elaborate and comprehensive youth empowerment master plan. The service is currently seeking to recruit 10 Cadet Officers specializing in Civil Engineering. This is a permanent and pensionable position offering a career in national service and youth development.
Role Overview
Successful candidates will be appointed as Cadet Officers and will be responsible for overseeing and implementing engineering projects within the service. The role involves a combination of technical engineering duties and paramilitary service. All successful candidates MUST undergo a mandatory nine (9) months of NYS paramilitary training at the NYS Training College.
Responsibilities
Design, plan, and oversee civil, structural, and infrastructure projects within the NYS.
Collaborate on projects involving mechanical, electrical, and water engineering as required.
Ensure all engineering works comply with national safety standards and regulations.
Provide technical expertise and supervision for site-based projects.
Maintain professional standards as required by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya.
Participate in the discipline and leadership activities associated with being a Cadet Officer.
General Requirements
Be a Kenyan citizen.
Be between 18 and 28 years of age.
Possess a valid Kenyan National Identity Card (ID) and KRA PIN Certificate.
Have no criminal record and be medically fit.
Possess a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Structural/Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Water Engineering, or Architecture from a recognized institution.
Minimum KCSE grade of C+ (plus).
Must be registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya as a Graduate Engineer.
Terms of Service
Salary and Allowances: As existing in the NYS salary scale.
Medical Cover: SHA Scheme of Civil Servants.
Terms: Permanent and Pensionable.
