Role Overview
Makueni County Public Service Board is seeking a Principal Physical Planner to join the county government on a permanent and pensionable basis. The role involves high-level spatial planning, urban development management, and regulatory enforcement to ensure sustainable growth within the county.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and coordinate the preparation of local and regional physical development plans.
Evaluate and vet development applications to ensure compliance with zoning regulations and planning standards.
Provide professional advice on land use, urban design, and spatial planning to county authorities.
Oversee site inspections and monitoring of development projects within the county.
Formulate and implement physical planning policies and strategies.
Manage and mentor junior planning staff within the department.
Liaise with relevant stakeholders and government agencies on matters of physical planning.
Ensure the maintenance of accurate planning records and GIS data.
Requirements and Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
Experience: Must have at least eight (8) years' professional experience in the relevant field.
Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, or Town Planning from a recognized institution.
Professional Membership: Must be a member of the Kenya Institute of Planners (KIP) or the Architectural Association of Kenya (Town Planning Chapter).
Registration: Must be registered by the Physical Planners Registration Board.
Training: Completion of a Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
IT Skills: Have a Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
Remuneration and Terms
Salary Scale: Kshs. 60,080 x 2,850 – 62,930 x 2,930 – 65,860 x 3,080 – 72,480 х 3,690 – 96,130 p.m. (Plus increments as specified in the scheme of service).
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable.
