Role Overview
The Makueni County Public Service Board is seeking to recruit a qualified and competent individual for the position of Director Lands, Urban Planning and Development. This is a senior leadership role within Job Group "R", responsible for the overall coordination and management of land use and urban planning activities within Makueni County.
Responsibilities
Providing strategic leadership and direction in physical and land use planning.
Overseeing urban and regional planning initiatives across the county to ensure sustainable development.
Ensuring compliance with the Physical and Land Use Planning Act and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
Managing the department's resources and personnel in a senior managerial capacity.
Coordinating with professional bodies such as the Kenya Institute of Planners (KIP) and the Architectural Association of Kenya.
Managing development applications and zoning regulations within the county.
Requirements for Appointment
Be a Kenyan citizen.
Hold a Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline from a recognized university.
A Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from a recognized university will be an added advantage.
A certificate in the Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) or its equivalent (lasting at least six weeks) will be an added advantage.
Must be registered as a Physical Planner under the Physical Planners Registration Act, 1996.
Must be a member of the Kenya Institute of Planners (KIP) or the Architectural Association (Town Planners chapter) in good standing.
Have at least five (5) years of post-qualification professional experience in physical and land use planning.
Have at least three (3) years of experience in a senior managerial position in either the Public Service or Private Sector.
Must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya regarding integrity and ethical conduct.
Salary and Benefits
Job Group: R
Monthly Salary Scale: Kshs. 127,340 – 182,890
