Job Description
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Authority is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Information Communication and Technology. The Authority is tasked with rationalising and streamlining the management of all Government of Kenya ICT functions.
Role Overview
The Principal ICT Technical Support Officer is responsible for ensuring the continuity of computer system services for users by providing expert technical expertise. This includes supervising software installations, repairing hardware, troubleshooting faults, and managing database and network systems across various Government Ministries, Counties, Departments, and Agencies (MCDAs).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure continuity of computer system services for computer users by providing technical expertise.
Supervise the installation of computer software products, modify/repair hardware, and resolve technical problems.
Participate in the testing of new technology.
Verify change requests and specifications and recommend appropriate action.
Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications/systems.
Participate in the testing and evaluation of new technologies.
Assess the risks associated with ICT changes.
Update central e-records of assets of MCDAs.
Monitor and maintain computer systems, applications, and networks of MCDAs, including emails, websites, and database systems.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network faults.
Participate in preparing documents, manuals, and reports.
Advise ICT users on specifications and quality of ICT resources such as printers, computers, and other accessories.
Log, analyze, and resolve minor incidents and customer queries.
Receive and refer complex ICT issues to appropriate offices.
Prepare regular reports on ICT queries and responses from end users.
Qualifications and Experience
At least five (5) years of relevant work experience in the Public Service or Private Sector.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Administration, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Professional Diploma/Certificate in a related field.
Certificate in a Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
