The Principal ICT Assistant (System Administrator) is responsible for designing, developing, customizing, and maintaining Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP modules at the Wildlife Research and Training Institute (WRTI). The role involves utilizing the AL language and modern extension-based development to enhance system functionality, build integrations, and support ERP system improvement initiatives. You will work closely with functional consultants and end-users to translate business requirements into robust, technical solutions that drive the Institute's operations.
Responsibilities
Development & Customization: Design and deploy custom extensions and modifications in AL and C/AL for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Dynamics NAV; customize functionalities and develop new modules following Microsoft's latest development standards.
System Integration: Maintain APIs and web services to integrate Business Central with internal and external portals, such as permitting platforms, inventory, and E-citizen, ensuring secure data exchange.
Technical Design & Documentation: Translate functional requirements into technical specifications and maintain up-to-date system backups and technical documentation for all developments and integrations.
Testing & Support: Conduct unit and system testing to ensure bug-free deliverables; provide post-deployment support and troubleshooting, and assist with system migrations and upgrades.
Collaboration: Partner with consultants, QA teams, and project managers in an Agile environment during sprint planning and stand-ups.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
4+ years of development experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
Proven experience with AL and C/AL languages, SQL, Visual Studio Code, and Microsoft AL extension-based development.
Proficient in common ERP modules including Academic, HR, Finance, Budget, Procurement/Supply Chain, Payroll, Audit, CRM, and ICT.
Previous experience implementing Academic solutions in institutions such as TVETs or TTIs is preferred.
Relevant certifications such as MB800 (Functional Consultant) or MB820 (BC Developer), and Cloud certifications (Azure/AWS).
Strong understanding of ERP processes, Web Services (REST and SOAP), and SQL database management.
Experience with version control systems like Git or Azure DevOps.
Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Power BI, and Microsoft Azure services is a plus.
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
