Role Overview
The County Government of Lamu is recruiting for the position of Physical Planner. This role is essential for the sustainable spatial development of the Lamu Archipelago. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that urban and town planning initiatives comply with the Physical and Land Use Planning Act and contribute to the orderly growth of the county.
Responsibilities
While specific daily duties are not detailed in the advertisement, Physical Planners in a county government context are typically responsible for:
Preparing and implementing local and regional physical development plans.
Evaluating development and subdivision applications to ensure adherence to zoning and planning regulations.
Conducting site inspections and collecting spatial data for planning analysis.

Ensuring all development projects align with national planning standards and environmental guidelines.
Requirements for Appointment
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
Be a Kenyan citizen (must possess a National Identity card or Passport).
Have a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or Town Planning from a recognized institution.
Be a Graduate Member of the Kenya Institute of Planners, Architectural Association of Kenya (Town Planning Chapter), or Town & County Planners Association of Kenya (TCPAR).
Be registered as a Physical Planner under the Physical Planners Registration Board (PPRB).
Possess a certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution.
Demonstrate merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
