The Pharmaceutical Technologist is responsible for ensuring the timely, accurate, continuous, and cost-effective supply of medicines and medical supplies to in-patients, out-patients, and other personnel. The role aims to provide high-quality pharmaceutical care while supporting the vision, mission, and values of CURE International. The scope of prescribing is limited to over-the-counter medicines only where necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Medication Dispensing: Dispense drugs to in-patients upon discharge and out-patients as required. Ensure educating patients with instructions for proper use and cautioning on side effects is done always.
Prescription Review: Scrutinize patient treatment sheets and prescriptions for suitability of prescribed drugs in relation to dosing accuracy, drug interaction, and route of administration.
Inventory Management: Replenish stocks of in-patient medications as per treatment sheets. Maintain an accurate record of all issued medicines in the bin cards, issue book, and Odoo system.
Clinical Support: Provide drug information to patients, clinicians, nurses, and other medical staff. Participate in regular monitoring of medication management in the clinical areas.
Pharmacy Maintenance: Ensure cleanliness of the pharmacy and maintain the pharmacy store. Maintain the pharmacy cold chain to ensure drug efficacy.
Quality & Compliance: In-charge of all quality activities in relation to this position as per the Hospital Standards (SAFECARE). Compliance with the requirements of the CURE child protection and safeguarding policies.
Logistics & Reporting: Making medication orders for the pharmacy and supply medication orders to other departments such as OR and wards. Prepare and send all required periodic reports and maintain all pharmacy records.
Professional Development: Keep up to date with the current pharmacy practice and drugs.
Workplace Safety: Maintain and manage OSHA Standards in cleanliness through implementation of the Housekeeping OSHA Policy.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Pharmacy training from a recognized institution.
Must be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
At least three (3) years of work experience in a similar position.
Experience working in a hospital set-up will be an added advantage.
Knowledge of supply management.
