Avenue Healthcare is seeking a Pharmaceutical Technologist to join our team. The primary objective of this role is to ensure that high-quality standards are maintained at all times in the provision of medication and medical consumables, adhering to Avenue Group’s defined policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Pharmacy Equipment & Compliance: Ensure the Pharmacy has necessary equipment in good working condition and strictly adhere to insurance exclusion lists.
- Stock Management: Maintain optimal stock levels based on re-order points. Conduct daily counts, spot counts, and monthly stock takes. Provide accurate reports on variances and expiries to the Pharmacy Superintendent or Business Manager.
- Medication Safety: Prevent medication errors by counter-checking prescriptions/treatment sheets for correct dosages, allergies, patient identification, and drug legibility. Provide patients with clear usage instructions.
- Controlled Substances: Dispense D.D.A items according to policy, performing weekly checks and reporting discrepancies.
- Quality & Temperature Monitoring: Monitor and chart fridge temperatures twice daily. Escalate quality issues and track pharmacy quality indicators for reporting.
- Expiry Management: Check shelf and emergency trolley expiries monthly. Implement FIFO/FEFO using green stickers for short-expiry drugs and manage the disposal of expired items per PPB regulations.
- Governance & Reporting: Adhere to corporate governance policies to prevent fraud. Implement audit recommendations and report all incidents/events within 24 hours.
- Infection Control: Maintain strict infection control standards during extemporaneous preparations.
- Client Satisfaction: Ensure high quality of service and effective communication with patients. Utilize standardized tools for feedback and improvement.
- Confidentiality: Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Requirements
- A Diploma in Pharmacy.
- A valid and active Pharmaceutical Technologist license.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
- Strong organizational awareness and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on teamwork and reliability.
