The Pension Scheme Fund Accountant is responsible for ensuring effective administration, financial management, and regulatory compliance of pension schemes in line with statutory and company requirements. This role involves managing client onboarding, maintaining accurate member records and scheme data, processing contract endorsements, and supporting the preparation of financial statements, valuations, and scheme reports.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Administration: Ensure pension schemes comply with both statutory regulations and company policies. Manage the onboarding of new clients and sponsors within stipulated timelines.
Contract Management: Process endorsement change requests to insurance contracts while adhering to set procedures and guidelines. Deliver policy documents and deeds of adherence to customers within set TATs.
Data Quality: Facilitate continuous data clean-up of client personal information. Validate and verify customer data through lines of business during onboarding to ensure data integrity.
Financial Reporting: Support the preparation and filing of Scheme Financial Statements and Deposit Administration monthly valuation data. Present audited scheme accounts during Board of Trustee meetings and AGMs.
Tax & Regulatory Obligations: Prepare and file income tax returns and RBA levies within stipulated deadlines. File scheme Returns of Contributions and investment returns with the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA).
Reconciliations: Maintain the integrity of all scheme transactions and documentary support. Perform regular pension account reconciliations of members and scheme balances.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional Certification: CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification, ideally with specialized pension training.
Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in pension fund accounting or a related financial role.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of RBA Regulations and pension Taxation Law.
Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 or SAP.
