Information about the Role

Education Development Center (EDC) is seeking four (4) Pedagogical Experts to support the design and development of instructional materials, training curricula, and digital learning content. These materials will be aligned with competency-based education and training (CBET) principles for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system in Kenya. This role is part of the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP), a World Bank-financed initiative implemented by the Government of Kenya through the ICT Authority and the State Department for TVET.

The experts will play a crucial role in a national capacity-building program targeting approximately 2,000 TVET trainers across more than 240 institutions. The primary focus is to integrate generative artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced digital tools into teaching, curriculum development, and competency-based assessment, ensuring that instructional practices are modern, inclusive, and gender-responsive.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Support the design and development of instructional materials, training curricula, and digital learning content aligned with CBET principles.
• Integrate effective teaching methodologies and Information and Communication Technology (ICT)–enabled approaches into training delivery.
• Ensure learning materials, assessments, and instructional strategies support modern, inclusive, and technology-enhanced vocational education.
• Modernize instructional practices and promote gender-responsive training approaches.
• Equip trainers to deliver industry-relevant skills that improve youth employability and support Kenya’s position as a regional digital innovation hub.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: At a minimum, a Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, Education, Curriculum Development, Educational Technology, Technical Education, or a related field.
• Certifications: Must be an accredited curriculum developer/assessor and possess a recognized Trainer of Trainer (ToT) certification in the CBET framework.
• General Experience: A minimum of 5 years in the design and development of instructional materials, including curriculum delivery method plans, assessments, and digital content for multimodal delivery.
• Specialized Experience: A minimum of three years in CBET alignment and implementation, curriculum design, and ICT integration in Education.
