Mount Kenya University (MKU), a fully fledged chartered university committed to holistic education, is seeking qualified and dedicated Part-time Tutors for the Nutrition and Dietetics department. The tutors will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality units, managing student assessments, and ensuring effective curriculum implementation within a TVET-aligned framework.
Key Responsibilities
Unit Delivery: Plan, prepare, and teach assigned units according to the course curriculum and outlines.
Learning Materials: Develop relevant learning materials and tailored learning plans to meet individual student needs.
Assessment & Marking: Examine and mark Trainees’ Assessment Tests (C.A.Ts and end-of-term assessments), and ensure timely uploading of marks into the Management Information System (MIS).
Practical Training: Carry out practical instructions for trainees and maintain detailed portfolios of evidence.
Student Monitoring: Maintain accurate records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance.
Quality Improvement: Participate in the course review process, departmental meetings, and adapt delivery patterns to enhance student learning.
Supervision: Supervise students during assessments and contribute to the development of a high-quality curriculum.
Requirements
Academic Qualification: An earned Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or a relevant area from a recognized/accredited university.
Teaching Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching experience in a similar institution.
Professional Registration: Must be registered as a Trainer by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
Professional Body: Must be registered by the relevant professional body (e.g., KNDI where applicable).
Pedagogy: Completion of pedagogy training is mandatory.
Industry Experience: Relevant work experience in the industry is an added advantage.
